Before You Build Consulting is based in the centre of a unique eco-development named “Beyond”, near Port Elliot, South Australia. I have lived in or worked for the development for the last 15 years.

Whilst working in sales, I delighted in explaining the concepts that make a house sustainable, efficient, beautiful and a place where people thrive. Impressed by the homes in Beyond, many visitors to the sales centre who already owned land elsewhere would return to me with their initial house plans wanting help to achieve a light-filled, intelligent and economical home. I loved seeing the excitement when I help them refine their plans and I often felt frustrated seeing so many homes being built with obvious, avoidable design flaws. That’s what inspired me to expand into private consulting - to help people create smarter, more personal homes.

As the Beyond sales office has long since closed with the development nearing completion, I now oversee the encumbrance administration, helping builders and owners to have their plans comply with the high standards of sustainability, beauty and energy efficiency required at Beyond. My expertise are now available for anyone on the South Coast to access, especially if you have preliminary plans from a volume builder but don’t want that home to be cold, dark, expensive to live in and uninspiring.
